    This collection is the result of the wind power study conducted for Bloodvein River First Nation and includes an electronic research collection, searchable database, Bloodvein Wind Maps and summary report with recommendations for the community. Research includes environmental and economic benefits of wind power, regulations, First Nation partnerships, and technical aspects of wind power generation and distribution. The project report provides specific information regarding environmental assessment, standards and guidelines, licensing, and feasibility of wind energy development in relation to Bloodvein River First Nation.

    This collection is a set of tools to be used by Bloodvein River First Nation in developing a river monitoring program. It includes electronic resources, searchable database and summary report. The collection holds materials regarding the biophysical/ecological aspects of river monitoring, guidelines, technical reports, legislation, and information from established volunteer water monitoring programs. Recommendations for future research and steps for implementation of a community-monitoring program for the Bloodvein Heritage River system are included.

    The entire Manitoba's Tenure and Regulatory System - Research Collection is organized within Research Spreadsheets and categorized into 12 Workbooks. The tenure research workbooks correspond with the report chapter topics and briefing binder contents. The spreadsheet also includes workbooks listing Manitoba laws, regulations and policy resources, as well as all maps and work products regarding various type of tenure created by Whelan Enns Associates. The Research Spreadsheet is a tool for navigating through the extensive searchable database and electronic library of materials gathered for this project. The entire collection is provided on a set of DVDs.

  • Eco Tourism, Aboriginal Tourism Study, and Collection For Poplar River First Nation - Whelan Enns Associates

    This collection is based on Poplar River First Nation's 2005 Asatiwisipe Aki Management Plan, which identifies tourism as a desirable economic development within the traditional territory. The collection lays the groundwork for ecotourism and Aboriginal tourism including summary reports on successful Aboriginal tourism case studies, marketing, standards, best practices, guidelines and certification programs. A Tourism Strategy was developed for Poplar River First Nation based on this extensive research. Materials have been provided in electronic format, organized and categorized into a database. The Poplar River First Nation Eco Tourism and Aboriginal Experience Tourism Study Collection contains over 500 records at this time.

Irving Hallowell, an anthropologist who traveled on the upper Berens River, visiting these lands and the two communities between 1932 and 1940.

Manitoba Wildlands' comments include concerns about the environmental review and assessment process, Tembec's increased fibre needs as a result of its decision to no longer included recycled fibre in its paper, and attention to issues such as climate change, protected areas and linear disturbance in the draft EIS Guidelines. Also included are comments on Manitoba Forestry Branch's new December 2007 Submission Guidelines for Twenty Year Forest Management Plans.

  • Manitoba Numbered Treaty Maps - Whelan Enns Associates

    Whelan Enns Associates was commissioned to create a set of Numbered Treaty Maps to show the geographic scope for the Numbered Treaties made between First Nations in the Manitoba Region and the Government of Canada. This set of maps removes provincial jurisdictional boundaries and provides instead: treaty boundaries, treaty boundaries with current Indian band reserve locations, treaty boundaries with watershed and water basin scopes. All data used was current government of Canada data.
